Jack Draper reached his first Masters 1000 semi-final at Indian Wells this season. The British player began his campaign with a 6-4,6-0 win against Joao Fonseca.

Draper then defeated three American opponents in Jenson Brooksby (7-5, 6-4), Taylor Fritz (7-6, 6-4) and Ben Shelton (4-6,5-7).

He will now face world number three and reigning Indian Wells champion Alcaraz in the final four.

Alcaraz has been in top form in California and breezed through his opening three matches. The Spanish player won his first three matches 2-0 in sets and dropped only 14 games against Quentin Halys, Denis Shapovalov and Grigor Dimitrov.

Alcaraz then booked his place in the semi-final with a quarter-final win against Francisco Cerundolo (3-6, 6-7).

Draper has already lost to Alcaraz this season after retiring during a last-16 clash at the Australian Open.

That result took Alcaraz’s head-to-head record to 3-1 against the British player.

Alcaraz has a great record at Indian Wells and looks in good shape as he targets a third successive title here. Draper is unlikely to have enough quality to challenge Alcaraz, who is tipped to win in two sets on Saturday.
